Julius De Geyter (Lede 1830 - Antwerp 1905) was a Flemish journalist and writer. He was a teacher and journalist until he became director of the "Bank van Lening" in Antwerp in 1874. He founded the literary magazine De Vlaamsche School together with J.F.J. Heremans and E. Zetternam. This magazine existed from 1855 to 1901. De Geyter was a political poet and played a role in the Flemish Movement. In his poetry, he opposed the established order. He was also librettist of several cantatas by Peter Benoit, including the Rubens Cantata (1877), and made a re-composition of Reynard the Fox (1874).
