This work belongs to a series of five engravings. This engraving was made after a drawing by Francesco Albani. The same engraving appears in Giovanni Battista Ferrari, Hesperides, Rome 1646. Cornelis Bloemaert made five engravings for this book after drawings by Albani, Poussin, Domenichino, Sacchi and Romanelli. Other engravers such as Claude Mellan also collaborated on this project. Ferrari's book is a botanical treatise on citrus species, supplemented by mythological tales, some of which are by the author himself.
