Designed by Jules Clément Chaplain as a tribute to the fire service, this medal shows a heroic firefighter saving a woman and child from death by fire. The reverse of the medal was designed by Henri Dubois and was intended to engrave the name of the honoured person. The Paris mint used Dubois' design for two more Chaplain medals. Every French fire brigade could use this medal for various occasions such as retirements or honours of deserving persons. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
