German Johann Peter von Reininghaus was a chemist by profession. In time, he started a brewery near Graz and expanded its production to include spirits and liqueurs. Reininghaus was one of the most successful manufacturers in this region, bringing prosperity and progress. He received this plaque in 1900 on his 82nd birthday. Kautsch exhibited this portrait medal at the "New York International Medallic Exhibition" in March 1910, and at the Salons of the Medal held on the occasion of the World Exhibitions of Brussels in 1910 and Ghent in 1913.
