Pride & Paintings: a night of queer expressions

At the start of Belgian Pride month, we hand over the keys to the museum to House of Lux. After two smashing editions in 2023 and 2024, Mauve Lux, Krietjur and Susan from Grindr are once again inviting a series of artists on 1 May, who will transform the museum's halls into a place of diverse queer expressions.

Follow performances inspired by the artworks, enjoy music by queer composers, come draw from live models or join a talk on the upcoming ‘Queer Belgian Art’ exhibition. Have a drink at the bar and dance along, this time until 1am! And of course, you can also spend an evening (re)discovering the museum collection.

Curious about the LGBTQ+ stories that hang on the walls of the museum, but are barely told? In the LGTBQ+ tour, we take a different look at some of the works of art. The a walk-in tour is only in Dutch, but you can book an English guide for your group on another day.

With this event, we invite everyone to surprising encounters between classic and contemporary (sub)culture. Take your first steps inside the museum or experience the familiar rooms in a completely different way. Everyone is welcome as they are, we’ll make sure that the MSK can be a safe space for all visitors. There is no room for queerphobia, transphobia, racism, discrimination based on gender, physical or mental ability or age.

• There's a free cloakroom, mandatory for large items and coats.
