On Thursday evening 19 September, the MSK and the youth collective Schoonvolk! warmly welcome you to the opening of Alternative Narrative. Discover 18 young people's critical view of the museum collection.
With their new exhibition, Schoonvolk! hijacks the museum collection. Alternative Narrative explores what a museum can, and should, look like today. This exhibition for and by young people aims to lower museum thresholds, throw the doors wide open and (sometimes literally) bring art out from under the dust.
From the museum depots, Schoonvolk! chose some 70 works: collection pieces that have not often been on display, works made by female artists (a persistent blind spot in the classical museum world), works in various media and art that highlights underexposed themes.
