Claes van Ruyven kneels in armour and with folded hands by a table with prayer book. Above left and right are four coats of arms, of which the upper left is the coat of arms of Van Ruyven. Claes van Ruyven, steward of the count of Holland and sheriff of Haarlem, was murdered in Haarlem in 1492 during the revolt of the Cheese and Bread People.
