During the heavy storm, Jonah is thrown overboard by the fishermen. He is swallowed by a whale. The print has a Latin caption and is part of a series of two prints based on the Bible text Matt. 12:40, as a prefiguration of Christ's burial: 'For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.'
