This plaque was offered to Minister Armand Hubert as a token of gratitude for his involvement in organizing the 1913 World’s Fair in Ghent. However, it was only engraved and presented in 1914. The minister had already received the same honor after the Brussels Exhibition in 1910. On that occasion, Devreese had portrayed him in bust on a classical round medal. Here, the artist chose to depict the minister on a rectangular plaque and in his working environment, resulting in a less formal representation. A fine example of Devreese’s craftsmanship, successfully portraying the same person in a completely different manner.
