In 1863, the operation of the railway network in the Netherlands was taken over by private hands. On the occasion of the company's 50th anniversary, this commemorative medal was issued. A steam train is approaching on a railway bridge, with a small sailing boat visible on the left between the bridge's pillars. On the reverse side, a train station is depicted with tracks and overhead lines. A decorative border frames the whole design and the inscriptions.
