Henri Bouilhet (1830-1910) graduated from the "Ecole Centrale" as a chemical engineer in 1848. His uncle, Charles Christofle, hired him. Bouilhet worked there mainly for the city of Paris. Among other things, he produced a service of one hundred gilded place settings for the Tuileries. In 1862, together with Paul Christofle, he founded the "Société Christofle" in Karlsruhe, still known for the production of cutlery. Henri Bouilhet became a member of the "Conseil Supérieure des Beaux Arts", president of the Jury of the Orfévrerie at the World Fair in Paris in 1900 and president of the "Union Centrale des arts décoratifs". Séraphin Vernier paid tribute to him with this portrait medal.
