This medal allegorically depicts France as Lady Gallia with helmet, braids and a drawn sword. The Monnaie de Paris issued it in three different sizes, 27, 41 and 63 mm. diameter. The reverse shows a curled paper scroll with rectangular frame with oak leaves and a banding in the background. Morlon exhibited this medal at the 1907 "Salon de Paris". Years later, the same obverse of this medal was used again with the inscription, AUX COMBATTANTS DE / 1944 / LA PATRIE / RECONNAISANTE, on the reverse within a laurel wreath.
